WHAT WE DO

Our Mission

Increase outdoor recreation opportunities and participation in Connecticut through economic development.

What CORA Does

CORA’s founding focus was to advocate for an office promoting the outdoor recreation economy within Connecticut’s government. This initiative is part of the Coalition of States movement to support outdoor recreation across the country and has been adopted by National Governors Association.

The following three functions will increase outdoor recreation opportunities and participation in Connecticut:

  • Marketing – Promote outdoor recreation opportunities available within Connecticut’s borders.

  • Access – Create/protect equitable and sustainable access to the outdoors.

  • Education – Enable visitors and residents alike, to steward and enjoy Connecticut’s outdoor recreation resources.

About CORA

The Connecticut Outdoor Recreation Alliance is a concerted effort to grow outdoor recreation by supporting the development of Connecticut’s outdoor recreation economy. We believe outdoor recreation is created through the intersection of resources (parks, trails, waterways, etc.), users (hikers, boaters, skiers, etc.) and supporting organizations (businesses, non-profits, educational institutions, etc.).

We convene gatherings that increase our sense of community and connection as individual businesses and stakeholders that drive the Outdoor Recreation economy in Connecticut. Our relationships and collaboration with state government enables us to advocate with authority on the issues that affect our businesses, our open spaces and the quality of life in Connecticut.

As businesses and supporting organizations and individuals, we stand for the protection and promotion of the outdoor recreation resources used by visitors and residents of Connecticut.

CORA is a registered 501-c3 non-profit organization.
