Sky’s the Limit Hiking and Walking Challenge continues through the summer (April 16–December 4, 2026), with 20 hikes and activities at state parks and forests statewide. Top 100 participants are entered to win a hand carved walking stick.
Blue Blazed Hiking Trails Challenge
Ongoing! Hike at your own pace! You can complete any of the challenge categories in a single season or across your entire hiking lifetime. Earn prizes for distances completed.
CT State Parks Cadet Lifeguard Program
July 6–August 11: CT State Parks Cadet Lifeguard Program at multiple swimming areas statewide, training youth for waterfront safety and providing structured outdoor engagement.
No Child Left Inside (NCLI)
July 18: Boating Day at Mansfield Hollow State Park, highlighting paddling/boating access and youth participation
August 8: Saltwater Fishing Day at Fort Trumbull State Park, focused on introducing families and youth to coastal fishing and marine resources.
August 14–16: Perseids Meteor Shower Campout at Pachaug State Forest, an overnight astronomy‑oriented outdoor experience with camping and night sky interpretation.
